Young children naturally enjoy running. The challenge for me, as a father and runner, was to find a way to facilitate a continuation of that enjoyment for my children. Somehow that happened, and I suspect that our annual Father’s Day Mile played at least a small role.
FathersDayMile.com serves a few purposes. First, it’s my opportunity to share with you my thoughts and stories about the joys of running with children and, in particular, my Father’s Day Mile story (for those of you who read the abridged version on RunnersWorld.com, you can read the unabridged version here). Second, it’s my invitation to you to share with me (and, if you are agreeable, the other readers of FathersDayMile.com) Your Stories about running with children and, in particular, your secrets for facilitating their continued enjoyment of running. Finally, it’s my challenge to you to Commit to engaging the important children in your life in your own Father’s Day Mile, Mother’s Day Mile or other running tradition.
So, read, run, share and, by all means, enjoy!!!
